How often should I clean my tartar?
Dr Gais: The accumulation of tartar is an individual process which depends on may factors – from the genetical predisposition to the food we take. On average a professional oral hygiene must be made every 6 months.
How often should I whiten my teeth and does it damage the enamel?
Dr Gais: the teeth can be whitened once in a year (professionally), more often is not recommended. Latest research shows that the use of tooth pastes and home systems for whitening is much more dangerous for the enamel. One of the most common issues is the lack of professionals and the prolonging use of the whitening agents. The procedure takes about 50-60 minutes in the clinic.
What are Veeners and what is their difference with the Crowns?
Dr Gais: The Veeners are made of pure ceramics and placed on the front (vestibular surface) of the teeth. Changes in the color, the shape and little deformations can be made with them. The ceramics used to make them imitates by most the mechanical, optical and esthetic qualities of the enamel. They’re main function is creation and correction of the smile. The difference with the crowns from pure ceramics is that they are applied mainly on the front surface, while the crowns cover the whole tooth. The choice of Veeners or Crowns is made by the treating doctor by strict indications.
In what age should I use brackets and when is it too late?
Dr Gais: It’s never too late as long as there are indications. This is decided after othodontical analyse, but the years are not a factor.
Is there a risk for implant rejection?
Dr Gais: Modern implants are made of bioinnert materials which don’t make a respond from the organism. Besides that very rarely rejections are observed, because of the low hygiene of the patient.
How long does the orthodontical treatment take?
Dr Gais: The Orthodontic treatment is different for the different types of patients deformation. The time, the way of treatment and all other questions are specified after the orthodontic analyze which is made on the basis of models, photos and x-ray photos.
In what time I’ll be having a new smile?
Dr Gais: The ceramic constructions are made in 10 work days after the project of the smile and the thinning of the teeth. The patient is having the ability of leaving the clinic with his new smile right after the teeth are thinned (the smile is temporary made from photopolymer material). In this period the patient can get used to his new teeth form, as by the time some changes can be made.
What is the procedure of making implants and does it hurt?
Dr Gais: The procedure is painless, because it’s made under local anesthesia. The placement of one implant without surgery takes about 10 minutes, with surgery about 20-30 minutes. The work protocol is determined by the curing doctor by the type of defect, the anatomical features etc. The time for waiting is about 3-4 months and after that a prosthesis is made.
Will there be a period in which I’ll be having no teeth?
Dr Gais: Except if the patient does not want to (Dr Gais laughs). All patients in any case leave the clinic with constructions (permanent ot temporary).
